Bar-le-Duc greets the new comers to the city

Each year, about 80 people arrive in Bar-le-Duc and the newcomers are warmly welcomed during a party organised by A.V.F. Accueil - the town council and several others associations.
Those various organisations take the opportunity to introduce their activity to the new Bar-le-Duc’s inhabitants.

That convivial meeting allows everyone to be happy and integrated with the city.

“Festival RenaissanceS”

The “Festival RenaissanceS” enlights the magnificent Renaissance district located in the upper city. Several activities give life to the city:
concerts, theatre performances in the streets, medieval balls and markets, typical dishes of the Renaissance period in the menus of Bar-le-Duc’s restaurants...
The “Festival RenaissanceS” aims less at being a historical reconstruction than at re-creating the festive mood of the Renaissance through modern artistic interventions.
It is a terrific mixture of ancient music and street theatre, which is unique in France.
In summer, it is a must in Lorraine! “Games, Parties and other extravagances” was the theme of 2005 festival, which took place from June, 30th to July, 3rd.
As you should not miss this event, be the first ones to discover it at the following website address: http://www.festivalrenaissances.com/.

Walk throughout Renaissance all summer long
Theatrical Walks
Every Saturday at 9 p.m. and every Sunday at 3 p.m.
A little bit of history, much more (infectious) joy of living and a complete change of scene are quite certainly the characteristic features of these original walks. Actors lead people in the streets and alleys of the Renaissance district. If you want to know that history, just follow those funny guides. Performed by the “Compagnie Ici et Maintenant” and the “Compagnie Scola Maschera.”
Walks with a Storyteller in Bar-le-Duc
In the streets and alleys of Bar-le-Duc’s picturesque Renaissance district, the storyteller, who holds the key of story, becomes your partner. His words and gestures open the gates of an unknown and lively story, so that children are not the only ones to go along with the game… Patrick Berge, professional storyteller would be your guide.

Antique Exhibition

Each year in September an antique exhibition is organised in Bar-le-Duc, which is the oldest exhibition of that kind in the Eastern part of France. Many French antique dealers got used to meeting their counterparts during that special event. There will be 54 exhibitors this year, with their wide selection of goods such as silverware, earthenware, ancient carpets and furniture of the “Ecole de Nancy.” Everybody can get something out of it!
